Scotty McCreery’s Lip-Sync Snafu At The Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade

Scotty McCreery attends the 85th annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, New York City, November 24, 2011 NEW YORK, N.Y. -- It appears Lauren Alaina wasn’t the only former “American Idol” Season 10 alumnus with song issues on Thursday.
The show’s most recent winner, Scotty McCreery, had a very obvious lip-syncing issue while taking part in the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
As his song, “The Trouble with Girls” began, following an introduction by “Today’s” Matt Lauer, the country star didn’t have his mouth open in song, or the microphone near his face as his recorded voice came streaming out of the loud speakers.
The same thing happened for Avril Lavigne, who didn’t have the microphone at her mouth as her song, “Wish You Were Here,” began.

As for Lauren, as previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, she seemed to forget the lyrics to the National Anthem – “The Star-Spangled Banner” — going silent for a verse on Thursday at the Lions/Packers game in Detroit.
Later, on Twitter, she took ownership of her mistake.
“Thank you everyone for the kind words,” she wrote on Thursday afternoon. “But the truth is I messed up. I’m gonna spend the rest of the day being thankful for all my blessings.”

George Michael Treated For Pneumonia, Cancels Tour

George Michael performs in London, August 25, 2008 LONDON, U.K. -- George Michael has postponed all his remaining 2011 tour dates as he recovers from pneumonia, the singer’s publicist said Friday.
Michael was hospitalized in Vienna, Austria earlier this week. A statement from publicist Connie Filippello said the 48-year-old former Wham! singer “is responding to treatment and slowly improving.”
Michael “is ill with pneumonia and any other speculation regarding his illness is unfounded and untrue,” the statement said.
Two Austrian doctors treating Michael said he had “severe community acquired pneumonia,” but “his condition has stabilized and he is responding to treatment.” They said he needed time to regain his strength.
“From the current point of view, the time until recovery cannot be estimated, but he will not be able to perform the rest of the tour,” Dr. Christoph Zielinski and Dr. Thomas Staudinger said in a statement. “Besides medical treatment, complete rest, and peace and quiet are mandatory.”
The singer has postponed dates in Liverpool, Sheffield, Newcastle, Glasgow, Birmingham, Manchester and London. The statement said the concerts would be rescheduled.
Michael gained mega-stardom in his early 20s as half of Wham! and went on to a successful solo career. His first solo album, 1987’s “Faith,” sold 20 million copies.
Michael had played 45 dates on his “Symphonica” European tour before falling ill.

Defense Secretary Invites ‘Dancing’ Champ J.R. Martinez To The Pentagon

J.R. Martinez from the cast of ‘Dancing With The Stars’ proudly shows off his trophy on the set of ‘Good Morning America’ in New York City on November 23, 2011 WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Defense Secretary Leon Panetta has invited soldier-turned-actor J.R. Martinez, winner of this season’s “Dancing with the Stars” competition, to meet him at the Pentagon.
During a 10-minute telephone call Friday, Panetta told the dance champion he demonstrated the strength and resilience of wounded veterans, Pentagon spokesman Capt. John Kirby said.
Martinez credited his military training for his performance on the ABC show, Kirby said. Martinez and professional partner Karina Smirnoff bested fellow finalists Rob Kardashian and Ricki Lake in the finale broadcast Tuesday.
Martinez, 28, was severely burned over more than 40 percent of his body when the Humvee he was driving for the U.S. Army in Iraq struck a land mine in 2003. After dozens of operations during a nearly three-year recovery, Martinez became a motivational speaker and in 2008 won a role on the now-retired ABC soap opera “All My Children.”
Details of Panetta’s meeting with Martinez are being worked out.

Healthy Hollywood: Fab Food Friday – Salma Hayek’s Secret To De-Bloat After The Holiday!

Salma Hayek attends the ‘Puss In Boots’ New York screening at The Hearst Tower on October 24, 2011 NEW YORK, N.Y. -- Ah, the day after Thanksgiving – feeling stuffed? Me too! After a high-calorie feast of turkey, mashed potatoes, and pumpkin pie – I could use a little help in the de-bloat zone.
A good post-Thanksgiving sweat first thing in the morning is an excellent way to feel a tad lighter and set the stage for a healthier day of eating. Also, go for a veggie-packed juice – it will help ease the over-consumption blues. “A great way to de-bloat is to have an Essential Green juice in the morning,” reveals juicing expert, Eric Helms, who co-founded the Cooler Cleanse with Salma Hayek.
For years, Eric has been Salma’s go-to guy to help her get red carpet ready or shed a few extra pounds. Eric shares with Healthy Hollywood the secrets to one of Salma’s favorite de-bloat juices – Cooler Cleanse’s Essential Green juice. “It has dark green vegetables which contains essential vitamins and minerals crucial for the cleansing functions of the kidneys and liver. These greens are highly alkalizing to your cells – this counters the damage done by the corrosive acidic waste products from all the meat, sugar, dairy and other common foods you had during Thanksgiving dinner,” adds Eric.
Green Leaf Juice Ingredients:
Handful of spinach
3 stalks of celery
Small handful of parsley
3 leaves of green kale
2 Barlett pears, seeded
1/4 lemon, peeled
1/2 cucumber, peeled
Bunch up spinach, parsley, and kale, and push through juicer with celery, and pear. Follow with cucumber and lemon. Scrape off the foam and serve over ice. For variation, add dandelion greens or watercress.
Try drinking a green juice for breakfast or breakfast and lunch and then eat well for the rest of day, such as lean proteins & lots of veggies. “It helps your body run better, feel cleaner, and look brighter and younger because you ease the digestive process by replacing regular meals with delicious, fresh-pressed vegetables and fruit juices. You feel lighter and more energized,” states Eric.

Glam Slam: The Friday Five — Black Friday Shopping Alternatives

Tired of holiday shopping stress? Tired of holiday shopping stress?
LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Skipping the sales today? Me too! So if you are looking for other ways to spend your day off, here are a couple of saner ideas than braving the mall madness!
HIT THE MULTIPLEX
My pick for the weekend is George Clooney in “The Descendants.” Clooney plays a distant dad whose wife’s coma brings him closer to his two daughters. The movie experts here in our office are saying this is the performance of his career and he’s a Best Actor shoo-in. The critics agree! If you want a movie for the entire family, you can’t beat “The Muppets,” which is going to be HUGE!
HIT THE SPA
Be oblivious to the mall mayhem and find inner peace at your local spa. Or pamper yourself at home with a body scrub and mani/pedi.
HIT THE GYM
If you overindulged, you can ease your guilt with a good workout. I like to be outside and hike, but even a brisk walk will make you feel better.
OR BE A COUCH POTATO
Lots of good guilty pleasure TV to check out. “The Oprah Winfrey Show” Favorite Things marathon starts at 2 PM on OWN. “The Glee Project” marathon starts at 10 AM on Oxygen. Over on Bravo, “The Millionaire Matchmaker” marathon starts at 11 AM.
MEET A FRIEND
Most people have the day off, so use it to reconnect and catch up with friends before the entire holiday season gets away from you. If you don’t have time for lunch or dinner, meeting for coffee or drinks are other options. ‘Tis the season to be thankful — especially for your friends and family.

CHARACTERS
Nick Mathur: John Abraham
A graduate of London School of Economics, Nick Mathur is a prototype of the boy every girl wants to make her parents meet. Loyal friend, reliable boy friend, stable investment banker and an all round sweet guy! He happily pays the rent and supports his best friend, Jerry, and provides for his fiancé Radhika’s dream wedding and honeymoon, not realizing that, he has turned in a ‘ATM card’ in Jerry’s life and an ‘LIC agent’ in Radhika’s.
Radhika Awasthi: Deepika Padukone
A professional architect, Radhika Awasthi lives in a fairy tale bubble – Dream boyfriend, dream wedding, sensational honeymoon. As much as she loves Nick, her idea of romance is more practical than poetic. It is this cynicism that prevents her from understanding Nick and Jerry’s friendship. Ironically, as much as she resents Jerry for using Nick, she is blind to how much Nick humors her idea of a ‘perfect’ life.
Jerry Patel: Akshay Kumar
Born as Jignesh Patel in a modest Gujarati couple, Jerry changed his name the minute he sat on the plane to come to the UK 12 years back! Jerry’s life is a hedonistic series of shortcuts involving drooping out from college, changing several part-time jobs and living off his best friend Nick – the only stable factor and ultimate safety net in his life.
Tanya Mehra: Chitrangda Singh
From being the fat, ‘KFC Kid’ who was the butt of all jokes, Tanya Mehra blooms into a drop-dead gorgeous and successful Economics teacher at Trinity College. Her no-nonsense professor façade hides a crazy and wild Flower Child interior. She lives life in the moment and fully, not letting anything holds her back from following the beat of her heart.

Will Vidya Balan wed Siddharth Roy Kapur in 2012?

The Dirty Picture actor has said that a wedding is on the cards

Looks like all those rumours about Siddharth Roy Kapur aka SRK being upset with girlfriend Vidya Balan doing hot kissing scenes in The Dirty Picture are just not true. The two are still going strong and are as much in love as ever. Vidya said as much when she described her relationship with the UTV head honcho a couple of days back. The actor who has been promoting The Dirty Picture all over the country said during an event in Ahmedabad that she and Siddharth are very much in love and will get married. But not for a while yet. She is just happy to enjoy being wooed right now. We totally agree, Vidya! To be wooed by a good looking guy like Siddharth is every girl’s dream! She also reportedly said that their relationship has several flavours – it is sweet, spicy and salty. Whoa! If it’s that right, then maybe Vidya and Sid will tie the knot sooner than they want us to think they will. Vidya’s statement just makes us wonder if they will be the third couple to tie the knot in 2012. Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor have already announced they will wed next year in February, while Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D’Souza are planning a 2012 wedding, but not decided on the month yet (or so they say). So will Vid and Sid also do the same thing? We can’t wait till they make an official announcement.

Is Emraan Hashmi trying to outdo Vidya Balan with ‘The Dirty Picture’ promotions?

Doing the rounds of the Parliament, almost creating a stampede at Metro station; Emraan resorts to hard-selling as a tool to promote his next flick

Emraan Hashmi is leaving no stone unturned to spread the word about his next film The Dirty Picture. Even if he lands in major trouble because of it. The serial kisser of B-town was all set to board a Metro train at New Delhi for promoting his film, when the crowd went berserk and threw a monkey wrench in his plans. Police officials say that the makers of the film didn’t bother to inform them about the plans and hence they couldn’t make proper security arrangements, because of which Mr Hashmi had to take the exit route at the station. Now Emraan’s promotional activities don’t stop here. The Dirty Picture actor also left his footsteps at the Parliament recently and distributed audio CDs of the movie to a couple of ministers. Apparently, when Lalu Prasad Yadav (the Rashtriya Janata Dal president) was asked if he received a CD, the minister snapped at the media saying that he was unaware of any such activity. He added that keeping in mind the title of the film, such kind of movies should not be promoted but eventually it is up to the Speaker of the Lok Sabha to allow such ventures inside the Parliament. Well Mr Hashmi, we are just wondering, why go to all this trouble? Are you trying to make people remember that Vidya Balan is not the only actor in The Dirty Picture? She takes a tram ride in Kolkata and you go on a train ride! So all those rumours about you being upset with Vidya for being the centre of publicity campaigns are true? Don’t worry Emraan, no way will we forget you!

Does Anushka Sharma have an attitude problem?

Following in the footsteps of her co-star Ranveer singh, the gorgeous actor has started displaying highhanded behaviour. Has fame gone to Anushka Sharma’s head too?

Hardly four films old, we hear, Anushka Sharma has started throwing her weight around! Her ever-growing tantrums are slowly becoming the talk of B-town. Apparently, the actor is treating the media with total disdain and launching verbal attacks on journalists, even though she has a film coming up. Recently when a mediaperson quizzed Anushka about the secret behind her impossibly thin frame and hot bod, the Ladies vs Ricky Bahl actor started fuming and said that she doesn’t take this as a compliment. Attitude haan! Just a few days back we told you about the snooty behaviour from Anushka’s co-star and a dear ‘friend’ Ranveer and how he’s giving rude monosyllabic answers in press conferences. Ranveer even went on to to ape Salman Khan in an event just to get more media coverage. And now, we think, this attitude problem has rubbed off on the otherwise media-friendly Anushka. Well, this is not the first time she was seen in her rude avatar. In another event she gave rude answers to media’s queries. In her defense Anushka maintains that people have a right to call her a bad actor, but they can’t probe into her personal life. Oh c’mon Anushka we think it’s a high time for you to grow up and and realise that being questioned about your personal life is part and parcel of being a celeb! You can choose not to answer the questions or deal with tricky ones tactfully, but throwing your starry tantrums, darling, is a complete no-no!

Shahrukh Khan, Madhuri Dixit, Abhay Deol: Celeb spotting at IFFI Goa

Shahrukh Khan was his usual ebullient self, Madhuri Dixit rushed in and out, Jackie Shroff was mobbed while Abhay Deol was ignored, much to Cineswami’s amusement

This week Cineswami has undertaken another tedious and onerous task so that you, gentle reader, don’t have to. I took the trouble of coming to sunny seaside Goa and put up with the discomfort of staying in a 7 Star hotel so that I could bring vignettes from the 42nd International Film Festival of India and the accompanying Film Bazaar to you. Well, someone has to take a hit for the home side, right? And Cineswami’s sacrificial nature is a byword in some (very small) circles.
Wednesday evening saw the inauguration of the festival. There were some politicos present, but the spotlight was on Shahrukh Khan, who was his usual ebullient self no doubt having forgotten about RA.One and not thinking about the fact that the Don 2 music hasn’t really caught on, but smiling all the same with the knowledge that everything Farhan Akhtar touches these days turns to gold. He arrived late, which was not his fault, but the airline’s. His speech was full of quips, bon mots and faux philosophical statements, but no one really heard him, as the packed auditorium was content to gaze at him in rapture. He had the crowd eating out of his hands. If only the same crowd had bought repeat tickets for RA.One… Cineswami did and saw the film three times in 3D in three different Indian cities and loved it more every time.
On Thursday, the evergreen Madhuri Dixit showed up to inaugurate the Indian Panorama section of the festival, mouthed her usual inanities (“loving every moment in Goa” and similar guff) and departed. Again, people were left gazing in rapture at the radiant actor. Come back soon Madhuri, before we can say Ek Do Teen. It’s not just superstars like SRK or Madhuri who make waves at the Goa fest, even has-beens like Jackie Shroff get some bhaav here. Shroff was gheraoed by adoring fans and paparazzi until the cops had to clear a path for the actor to move. Shroff’s joy at his continuing popularity must have been short-lived when he made his way over to the altogether more rarefied atmosphere of the Film Bazaar that is inhabited almost exclusively by film industry types. There, the hapless Shroff was all but ignored, but to give him credit he grinned and bore it and didn’t put on any airs and graces.
Another ignored Bollywood celeb that took being ignored in his stride was the ever-sporting Abhay Deol. He arrived at the opening cocktails, hosted by the National Film Development Corporation, with his current arm candy, the stunningly pretty and stunningly vacuous Preeti Desai. Most of the firangs had no idea who he was and only a few Indians recognised him and went up and spoke to him. This being a filmi insiders’ party, the focus was clearly on getting as many drinks in before the free bar ran out of booze, which happened at 10pm.
Compared to the well-organised Film Bazaar, the main festival continues, in its 42nd year, to be a nightmare for delegates. Utter chaos and serpentine queues, thanks to the usual babu-dom, remain the IFFI’s hallmark and legacy.

BIGG BOSS 5: Sunny Leone does a pole dance!

hat’s not all. Looks like everyone is not in the dark about the pornstar’s choice of profession. One contestant just might know her ‘secret’. And two friends turn foes on Day 53 in the Bigg Boss house

Housemates wake up to the lovely song Tip tip barsa paani and happily dance their morning blues away. Sunny Leone and Pooja Bedi chat over breakfast. Sunny brings up the topic of Kim Kardashian and asks Pooja Bedi if she knows what the American’s claim to fame is. Pooja Bedi is no ignorant fool and she replies that she knows exactly what Sunny is talking about. When Sunny asks her if she thinks Indian audiences would accept such a celebrity if she was of Indian origin, Pooja Bedi tells her that the Indian audience is very conservative and may not support such an act. Meanwhile, Sky taunts Pooja Misrra by asking her to apologise for the mistakes she has made on the show. Pooja Misrra says she has already apologised whenever she needed to and tells Sky that even he needs to apologise for calling her a dumb woman. Pooja Bedi intervenes and tells both of them to calm down and say sorry to each other. The two agree, say sorry and make up.
Mahek Chahal meets Sunny in the pink room and persuades her that she is not like the others and so won’t force her to vote for her as the next captain. But she requests Sunny to do vote for her if she feels Mahek deserves to be the captain. Meanwhile, in the green room a different game is being played with Siddharth Bhardwaj on one side and Sky, Pooja Bedi and Juhi Parmar on the other. Siddharth gets into a heated argument with Sky and things get a little ugly between the two friends.
After the fight, a new captain is appointed. Sky taunts Mahek for desperately wanting to be captain. He also accuses her of going back on her word of appointing Pooja Misrra as the new captain. Mahek gets extremely angry and lashes out at him. She then breaks down and hides herself in the bathroom. Juhi, Shonali Nagrani and Amar Upadhyay console her. After things cool down a little, Sunny Leone performs a sensual pole dance for all the housemates on a nice and slow track. The boys go gaga over her.
Juhi then confronts Sky about the fight between him and Mahek. Sky retaliates and walks off. After sometime, Sky cools down and apologises to Juhi for his behavior. He then meets Pooja Bedi, who applies eyedrops for him, gives him the tightest hug and tells him, “we all love you”.

IFFI: No ifs or buts

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan on Wednesday appealed to filmmakers to use the medium of cinema to fight feudal institutions and fascism in the country as he inaugurated the prestigious 42nd International Film Festival of India (IFFI).
Khan's fervent plea for honest efforts in filmmaking came as curtains went up on the 10-day long film festival.
.
Opening the festival, being held for the first time in Margaon city instead of the usual venue of Panaji, Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni called IFFI as the 'people's International Film Festival.'
'Don't be afraid to fight feudal institutions and fascism. Don't be afraid to destroy systems that kills our heart and soul. Don't be afraid of forces that will finally kill our world,' said the Bollywood heartthrob, who apologised for wearing a suit and 'not a Bermuda' to match with the profile of the tourist destination.
While praising India's status as the world's largest film industry, Soni said Indian cinema was yet to get the recognition it deserved.
The opening ceremony, which was scheduled for 5 PM, was delayed by half-an-hour after Khan's flight was delayed.
'We didn't want to start the ceremony without Shah Rukh Khan,' Soni joked as the inaugural function finally got under way with the speech of Goa Chief Minister Digambar Kamat.
Meanwhile, veteran actor Jackie Shroff said the Indian film industry should be giving preference to the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) over other prestigious fests across the globe, to make it a better affair.
'People (in the film industry) keep on talking about Cannes festival. I would advice them to come to Panaji. Lets make IFFI better than that,' Shroff said talking to reporters after inaugurating the 'Raj Kapoor' lounge for Directors at IFFI, which kicked off on Wednesday.
He also appealed vactioners and Bollywood celebs who come down to Goa for holidaying to visit IFFI. 'People come here (Goa) for a holiday. They should also come to Goa during IFFI,' Shroff said.
The actor said he would be requesting people from Marathi, Tamil and Bengali film industry also to come to Goa for the ten-day festival, which ends on 3 December. Celebrated French filmmaker Bertrand Tavernier was conferred the Lifetime Achievement Award at the opening
ceremony. The festival kicked off with the screening of 'The Consul Of Bordeaux' a Portuguese film by Fransisco Manso and Joao Correa.

DESI BOYZ quick review: This movie belongs to the boyz

Director Rohit Dhawan follows in his dad’s footsteps and churns out an out-an-out entertainer, but thankfully his debut film is better than David Dhawan’s recent flick Rascals

Akshay Kumar and John Abraham were last seen together in Priyadarshan’s Garam Masala which was an absolute disaster. So we really didn’t expect much from Desi Boyz. Surprisingly, the film is funny. At least the first half is. Our reviewer who is watching the film right now had this to say during the interval: If you ignore the fact that these educated ‘boys’ overlook every other decent profession and take up escorting as a way of earning their bread, butter, alcohol etc in times of financial crisis, the film works, at least the first half does. Dhawan shows promise. Sanjay Dutt does a cameo in the film and he totally steals the thunder with his charm. John and Akshay are the new Jai and Veeru in B-town. Deepika is hardly there and Chitrangda is missing from the first half. The music matches the mood of the film and the camera work is commendable. DB belongs to the boyz, hands down. The movie is a fun watch till the interval. Now waiting for the rest to unfold… hope the second half matches the fun pace of the first!

Katrina Kaif is 'most dangerous'

Actress Katrina Kaif could be a heartthrob of millions but she has also earned herself a sobriquet of being the 'most dangerous Indian celebrity' in the cyber world.
The actress has emerged as the most dangerous Indian celebrity online for year 2011 as the cyber criminals are using her name as a favourite key word that exposes computers to malicious software, according to a report by the internet security company McAfee.
.
Fans looking for results on search engines using strings such as 'name of celebrity' combined with words like 'free downloads', 'hot pictures', 'screen savers', and 'videos' are at a risk of running themselves into websites with malicious software and online threats.
McAfee researched popular culture's most famous people to reveal the riskiest celebrity sportsmen, actors and politicians across the web to pick up the 'most dangerous Indian celebrity.'
According to the report, Katrina is on top among the most dangerous celebrity-related key words in the Indian cyber space that expose computers to malicious software, leaving behind Deepika Padukone and Kareena Kapoor.
'In a celebrity crazy country like India, cyber criminals find it very lucrative to use the names of popular figures as keywords to lure people to websites with malicious software. This year's study found movie stars top the most dangerous list, while sports stars and politicians are among the safest,' Venkatasubrahmanyam Krishnapur, senior director, McAfee India, said in a statement.
There is 10.26 percent possibility that the name of the British Indian actress and former model could lead the users to a risky web site, the report says.
The list of 'dangerous celebrities' includes actors Deepika Padukone, Kareena Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, John Abraham, Priyanka Chopra, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Bipasha Basu, Aamir Khan and Shahrukh Khan.

“You definitely need to bring your heart and your funny bone to see Desi Boyz” – Akshay Kumar

One of our favorite people to interview has to be Mr. Akshay Kumar! He is always funny, gives fabulous answers and you can feel the passion he has for every movie he makes. That is true once again for Desi Boyz, which opens Friday, November 25th. Directed by newcomer Rohit Dhawan (yes, son of comedy master David Dhawan), Desi Boyz is Akshay’s new comedy drama with John Abraham, Chitrangada Singh, and Deepika Padukone. Read on to find out about his character, the story that is more than we think, working with John again, and about dancing on that pole…yeah he talks about that too! Akshay Kumar on all things Desi Boyz!

So what made you say yes to this role?
Initially it was Rohit Dhawan and his passion for his script. He gave me the concept over two years ago now and he’s been working non stop on his script, making it the perfect vision of how John and I should be perceived, why our characters become male escorts, how lovable he wanted to make each and every scene. All these things convinced me of what a wonderful eye opening film we could make.
Such a unique concept what did you think when you first heard the script?
Haha – you said it yourself – ‘such a unique concept’! Indeed it was. It was brilliant. It’s what you’d call a Dramedy! It is a comedy, but not in a slapstick way at all, you definitely need to bring your heart and your funny bone to this one. It has a few surprises in store for sure, but it’s far from mindless, it’s been beautifully written. You’ve got a bit of action (not much), romance for sure, a good bit of Desi drama and a lovely lashing of comedy, but nice, not daring.
Can you tell us about the story that goes along with the male dancer storyline?
It’s about two friends from India who arrive in UK to study at one of the world’s most prestigious academic institutions in the world – Oxford University. However as funds soon begin to deplete, they turn their talents to male lap dancing. As they get more involved in their new found vocations, a little competition soon becomes bitter rivalry between them and the film takes audiences on a hilarious journey that follows.
Give us some insight into your character.
My name in the film is Jerry Patel, I am basically a guy who doesn’t care, about anything or anyone. The film demonstrates how the recession literally forces me to buck my ideas up, take some responsibility in life and knuckle down. My best friend Nick (John Abraham) and I completely run out of money and in our desperation, are offered the opportunity of becoming male escorts. Of course me being the desperate and open minded of the two of us, I of course think it’s a brilliant plan, hence the name ‘Rocco’. Rocco is my nighttime name shall we say, where baring our chests becomes a necessity for both of us. We are basically two guys who fulfill women’s fancy dress fetishes, we are not strippers, we are costume dancers. But I’m afraid the rest of this story is for the lucky viewers that go to see the film – only they get to experience the real Rocco and Jerry in me!!!
How fun was it to do the male dancer sequences?
Actually, both John and I were equally nervous. No man wants to look either too good or too useless on a pole, if you know what I mean! Luckily for me, my gym is made of bars and rods so I’m used to swinging from and climbing poles daily, only now I had to do it with a stripper’s flare rather than my usual monkey technique! I thoroughly enjoyed myself in the Bachelorette song where both John and I come sliding down two golden poles to entertain the ladies, it’s been brilliantly shot and it’s all in good taste. This film is made so much for families to enjoy; even your Grandma’s will have an honest twinkle in their eyes.
Seems like you and John really give off a good chemistry, tell us about working with him?
All I can say is we are a pair and a half, our reuniting has been well overdue and it’s been absolutely brilliant shooting with him again. The respect we both have for each other’s bodies and professionalism is immense. We have very similar backgrounds so it’s easy for us to get along so well.
How has he changed since Garam Masala?
He’s always worked damn hard in his career and in this film he’s giving the ladies exactly what they deserve. The only thing that has changed about him as an actor is his growth, not only in his muscles but his maturity and dedication to prove he’s more than meets the eye.
How was it to work with Rohit Dhawan?
What a shock the world is going to get when they see this film and realize the age, the potential, the talent, the brains and vision of this boy. Rohit is a credit to his father, he’s done a brilliant job on Desi Boyz, he knows exactly what he wants and how to get it. I’m a huge supporter of newcomers. They have passion and drive of the purest form. We work unbelievably well together as we both have one goal in mind – pleasing the audience in every single shot. I’m already looking forward to his future work – he is exactly what blockbusters are made of.
With each new director, how do you change your timing and comedy to fit what he or she wants? Is that a challenge?
You know, delivering authentic comedy with flawless comic timing is extremely challenging. Luckily I’ve worked with some of the best directors to champion this genre and I have a great working relationship with all of them, so you certainly feel more in sync with each other.
What to you is funny?
General life observations. I think you have to take things with a sense of humor and try to see the funny side to things in life, rather than letting them get you worked up or stressed out. It makes the journey that much more entertaining and laughing is so good for the soul.
You are starring opposite Chitrangda Singh, what was it like to work with her?
She is by far an incredible actress, not to mention stunning as well. This is of course her first commercial film in Bollywood so nerves were high but she has the ability to blow everyone away on the sets each day. An absolute pleasure to work with.
Tell us about that helicopter stunt.
It was up there with some of the more risky stunts I’ve completed in my time. We had to alight the helicopter without harnesses, which was daunting as I’m sure you can imagine. I think both John and I are adrenaline junkies and the thrill of it was pretty intense. I think the end result, which you’ll witness for yourselves when the movie releases, looks pretty spectacular.
Any other action bits in the film?
You’ve got a bit of action but not much. There is more romance, a good bit of drama and lots of great comedy! As mentioned, it’s what you would call a Dramedy!
What do you think audiences are going to love about Desi Boyz?
‘Fresh’ is not the word – more like ‘Rise & Shine’ people – new director, new commercial heroine, new secret talents from both John and I… This is a story that will melt hearts both masculine and sensitive, we’ve got macho for the Boyz, we’ve got romantic for the Ladies, we’ve got action / muscles / love / dancing / morals & much more for everyone! Rohit is bringing a freshness to the screen that Indian commercial cinema has been missing, he’s worked damn hard on his script and he knows what he wants. He didn’t make me feel apprehensive for a second. New directors have a passion about them that I have become addicted to. There is never a time in a man’s life when he’s more dedicated than when he’s proving to the world what he’s made of. This is Rohit right now, in his debut element.
Your favorite thing about the film.
It’s probably when John and I coming riding through as firemen on the back of a fire truck in Bangkok, I know it’s supposed to be the ladies’ fantasy, but I think every little boy dreams of riding a big red fire-engine, and John and I were definitely those two little boyz ;o)
Did you enjoy filming in London?
London London London, it’s a dream city to live in, work in and play in, me and my entire family, we all love it mainly for the parks & restaurants!!
What are your favorite songs from the film?
As for the songs this film has got a lot to offer, my personal favourite would have to be the ‘Desi Boyz’ title track, it just gets under your skin and you can’t help but thrust your pelvis ;o) I remember sitting in my car playing it over and over again, thinking does this blow my mind, before I even reached set I already couldn’t wait to start shooting for it, and the visuals to this track are saucy, fun & fantastic ;o)
What are your thoughts on Hindi cinema today?
Some amazing things are happening – the continued collaborations with the Mainstream West and talent coming together both on and off screen. It just goes to show how much influence and impact Hindi cinema has in the global landscape. What is also great is the rise of independent Hindi cinema – some truly groundbreaking films that are proving very popular with domestic as well as overseas audiences, and showcasing new talent in the form of some wonderful directors, artists, scriptwriters and so forth. So much is happening in Hindi cinema on multiple levels.
What kinds of roles will you be doing in your future projects?
Well, I finally have some great news for all my action fans, I have probably the most exciting year of action coming up, from Rowdy Rathore to Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai 2 and Khiladi 786 Made in Punjab it’s going to be a damn good full-on year for me. Not to mention HouseFull 2 the sequel to Sajid Khan’s incredible comedy, and Joker my first 3D film ;o)
What is the best thing about being Akshay Kumar?
The wonderful opportunities that present themselves, as well as the opportunity of being a dad and husband to the most amazing son and wife respectively.

Maroon 5, Taylor Swift Win Early At AMAs

Taylor Swift is seen looking glam at the 2011 American Music Awards held at Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE in Los Angele on November 20, 2011 LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Maroon 5 and Taylor Swift had the right moves at the American Music Awards: The band and the country princess picked up the first trophies at Sunday’s ceremony.
Maroon 5, still riding high off their comeback hit “Moves Like Jagger,” won for favorite pop-rock band/duo/group. Adam Levine, the band’s lead singer and “The Voice” judge, thanked “our incredible fans for making this happen.”
Swift won country female artist.
The ceremony inside the Nokia Theatre in an unusually rainy Los Angeles was dripping with musical performances from such acts as The Band Perry, who crooned an emotional “If I Die Young,” and a platinum-blonde Chris Brown, who sang a stripped-down “All Back” before being joined by helmet-clad back-up dancers for a high-energy routine to “Say It With Me.”
Nicki Minaj launched the 39th annual fan-favorite ceremony with a performance featuring tethered back-up dancers, stilt-walking robots and super-producer David Guetta emerging from behind a pillar of speakers. The pink-haired singer— wearing a pair of speakers on her much-talked about posterior — kicked off the show with “Turn Me On” before launching into “Super Bass.”
Minaj later won favorite rap/hip-hop artist, besting a group that included her mentor, Lil Wayne.
“There’s so much love in this room,” said Minaj, who also thanked Swift, a big fan of her “Super Bass” hit.
Justin Bieber got in the holiday spirit with “Under the Mistletoe,” before Kelly Clarkson, wearing a glittery red gown with her hair swept to the side, delivered a swinging rendition of her “Mr. Know It All” as back-up dancers dressed as 1930s-era photographers snapped the first-ever “American Idol” champion.
Adele leads the nominees with four nods at this year’s AMAs, which honor music artists based on online votes.

Beyonce Worried Baby Secret Would Be Revealed

Beyonce hosts the screening of ‘Live at Roseland: The Elements of 4’ at the Paris Theatre in New York City on November 20, 2011 NEW YORK, N.Y. -- It’s tough to keep a pregnancy a secret when you’re in the public eye, and for a while, Beyonce thought the jig was up.
“The whole time I definitely was thinking, ‘Everyone knows, everyone can see,’” said the singer before the screening of her new concert DVD Sunday in New York.
It became particularly difficult for her to hide the growing baby bump when the Grammy-winner performed for four nights to sold-out crowds at New York’s Roseland Theater in August.
“When you’re pregnant, it’s a little bit harder to breathe, so it was hard doing all the choreography and singing at the same time,” said the 30-year-old singer in an onstage interview.
Fans who didn’t get a chance to catch “The Intimate Nights” shows — what Beyonce said was her last concert performance of the year — can get a behind-the-scenes look in her new “Live at Roseland” DVD, available exclusively at Walmart this week.
Along with classics from her Destiny’s Child days and major hits from her solo career, the DVD includes interviews with the singer, home footage of rehearsals and special family moments — even shots of Beyonce in a wedding gown.
She’s also hoping the film will serve as a time capsule for her unborn child, a chance for him or her to say, “I can’t believe I was in that belly,” she said.

‘Breaking Dawn’ Rises To $283.5M Worldwide Debut

Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner step out in style the UK premiere of ‘The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1’ at Westfield Stratford City in London on November 16, 2011 LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- “The Twilight Saga” has staked out another huge opening with a $139.5 million first weekend domestically and a worldwide launch of $283.5 million.
The domestic total gives “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 1” the second-best debut weekend for the franchise, after the $142.8 million launch for 2009’s “The Twilight Saga: New Moon.” '‘Breaking Dawn” did more than half of its business, $72 million, on opening day Friday, while the movie’s debut weekend was the fifth-best on record.
Opening in 54 overseas markets, “Breaking Dawn” pulled in $144 million internationally, according to studio estimates Sunday.
But the Warner Bros. dancing penguin sequel “Happy Feet 2” stumbled in its debut, pulling in just $22 million over opening weekend. That’s barely half what the first film in the animated franchise earned in its 2006 opening.
The comparison is even worse considering the original did not have the sequel’s price advantage for 3-D screenings, which cost a few dollars more than 2-D shows.
The previous weekend’s No. 1 movie, Relativity Media’s action tale “Immortals,” fell to third-place with $12.3 million, raising its domestic haul to $53 million.
George Clooney had a great start with Fox Searchlight’s comic drama “The Descendants,” which broke into the top-10 despite playing in just a handful of theaters.
“The Descendants” finished at No. 10 with $1.2 million in 29 theaters, averaging a whopping $42,150 a cinema. That compares to an average of $34,351 in 4,061 theaters for “Breaking Dawn.”
Directed by Alexander Payne (“Sideways”), the film stars Clooney as a distressed dad tending to his daughters after his wife falls into a coma from a head injury. The film expands to about 400 theaters Wednesday.
In an industry whose main audience is young males, “Twilight” is a rare blockbuster franchise driven by female viewers. Distributor Summit Entertainment reported that women and girls made up 80 percent of the audience for “Breaking Dawn.”
The popularity of “Twilight” has left many men scratching their heads, even those involved in releasing the movies.
“I’m 53 years old, and I haven’t figured it out yet,” said Richie Fay, head of distribution for Summit. “It relates really to young girls and things that are important to them, their romantic ideas of love and relationships, without getting so physical, at least on screen, that it becomes a worry for their parents.”
“Breaking Dawn” has brooding teen Bella (Kristen Stewart) marrying vampire lover Edward (Robert Pattinson), whose family strikes an uneasy alliance with jealous werewolf Jacob (Taylor Lautner) to protect the bride and the baby she’s carrying.
The movie’s big start points to even better business for next year’s “Breaking Dawn — Part 2,” the finale in the five-film series based on Stephenie Meyer’s best-selling novels.
“Breaking Dawn” was a windfall for Hollywood in general, whose domestic revenues continue to trail 2010’s despite rosy projections last spring of a record box-office year.
Domestic business totaled $222 million, up 14 percent from the same weekend last year, when “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1” led with $125 million, according to box-office tracker Hollywood.com.
The penguins of “Happy Feet 2” were left in the cold compared with the big debut for the first film, a critical favorite that won the Academy Award for feature animation.
The sequel, featuring returning voice stars Elijah Wood and Robin Williams, received mixed to bad reviews. Still, Warner Bros. reported it earned highmarks from audiences, which could keep it afloat in the coming weeks.
“We honestly feel we’ll pick up some steam and play some catch-up as we get into the holidays,” said Dan Fellman, head of distribution at Warner.
But the competition for family audiences turns intense in the next few days with Martin Scorsese’s youthful adventure “Hugo,” the musical comedy “The Muppets” and the animated holiday tale “Arthur Christmas” all opening Wednesday for the busy Thanksgiving weekend.
The newcomers, combined with “Breaking Dawn,” could lift Hollywood above the Thanksgiving record set in 2009, when “New Moon” paced the industry to a $273 million domestic haul from Wednesday to Sunday.
“This could be one of the greatest movie-going weekends ever in the midst of a year that has really had its ups and downs at the box office,” said Hollywood.com analyst Paul Dergarabedian.
Estimated ticket sales for Friday through Sunday at U.S. and Canadian theaters, according to Hollywood.com. Where available, latest international numbers are also included. Final domestic figures will be released Monday.
1. “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 1,” $139.5 million ($144 million international)
2. “Happy Feet 2,” $22 million.
3. “Immortals,” $12.3 million.
4. “Jack and Jill,” $12 million.
5. “Puss in Boots,” $10.7 million ($2.4 million international).
6. “Tower Heist,” $7 million ($4.5 million international).
7. “J. Edgar,” $5.9 million.
8. “A Very Harold&Kumar 3D Christmas,” $2.9 million.
9. “In Time,” $1.7 million.
