Grace Baptist Church of Mount Vernon announced Friday that the funeral for Heavy D had been scheduled for Nov. 18.
The New York-born rapper died at a Los Angeles hospital Tuesday after collapsing outside his home. He was 44.
Dwight Arrington Myer was the titular member of Heavy D and the Boyz, which had hits with “Now That We Found Love,” '‘Who’s the Man” and “Somebody for Me.”
He was one of the genre’s top stars in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
Grace Baptist Church’s website says its congregation was founded by five black women in 1888.

‘Breaking Dawn’ Stars React To Fans’ Premiere Tent City

Host and Nylon November cover star Kellan Lutz arrives, in Dylan George and his own clothing line Abbot + Main, at the Nylon Guys and Dylan George, Abbot and Main party, sponsored by Luna Rosa Tequila at The Beverly, Los Angeles, Nov. 10, 2011 More than 1,000 “Twilight” fans are anxiously awaiting Monday’s premiere of “Breaking Dawn — Part 1,” already camping out and lining up outside LA Live in Downtown Los Angeles.
But what do the “Breaking Dawn” stars themselves think of the Twi-hard tent city?
Access Hollywood caught up with Kellan Lutz and Christian Serratos on the red carpet of the Nylon Guys November issue release party on Thursday night in West Hollywood to get the scoop.
“I really want to go out to tent city,” Kellan told Access Hollywood.
“My friends told me, ‘I think you make the record for two premieres in one week at the Nokia Theater,” he added, referring to the LA Live-held premiere of his other November film, “Immortals,” which sees him playing a young-looking Poseidon.
Kellan, who plays Emmett Cullen in “The Twilight Saga,” isn’t the only cast member jazzed by the #OccupyTwilight phenomenon.
“I heard about tent city like an hour ago. I had no idea that fans were out there already,” Christian, who plays Bella’s human friend Angela Weber, told Access. “I know they do it every movie, but for them to be out there already is very cool, very supportive.”
Christian can’t wait to see the premiere either because she admitted that “Breaking Dawn” is her favorite installment in Stephenie Meyers’ book series.
“I’m more excited for this movie than I have been for any of the others,” the actress, who was sporting a funky Forever 21 top and black and white Chanel sneakers, added. “And I’m in it the least!”
One of her favorite scenes to film was the exchanging of vows between Edward and Bella.
“It felt like a real wedding. It was emotional…especially because they made the wedding the very last scene we all shot together,” she said.
When asked the inevitable question, Team Edward or Team Jacob, the 21 year-old actress didn’t hesitate for a single second before replying.
“I used to play it cool and say I was neutral, but [expletive] it — I’m Team Edward!” Christian told Access.
“The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 1” premieres this coming Monday, November 14. “Part 2” follows in November 2012.

Healthy Hollywood: Fab Food Friday – Sheryl Crow’s Food Fight!

Hard to believe – but Thanksgiving is right around the corner. It’s one of my favorite holidays – simply because it brings family together in a major eating fest. I love turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, green beans – lots of love at the table – bring it on – Healthy Hollywood is feast-ready!
Yet, it’s important to take time out and give thanks for our bounty! Not everyone is so lucky to have food on the table. “It is so important for everyone across the country to dare to be conscious and aware of the struggles of those around them,” reveals Sheryl Crow in Eating Well magazine.
The Grammy Award-winning singer is working to stamp out hunger through the hunger-relief charity, Feeding America. Over 37 million people annually are fed thanks to the generosity, dedication, and hard work of this network of food banks. Want to donate or start a virtual food drive? Check out, www.feedingamerica.org
Eating Well magazine celebrates do-good stars in their November/December issue. Lauren Bush and Jeff Bridges are also singled out for their support of fight hunger charities.
Lauren Bush-Lauren:
Lauren has been instrumental in providing more than 64 million meals worldwide. She co-founded FEED Projects, which is supported by the sales of FEED’s canvas bags, which are designed by Lauren. “I thought creating a ‘FEED bag’— made of the same burlap as the World Food Program’s food drop bags— would be a compelling and tangible way for people to connect with the fight against hunger,” Lauren reveals to Eating Well. A single FEED 1 bag ($60) provides a year of school meals for one child in Africa. For more information, head to www.feedprojects.com
Jeff Bridges:
The Academy Award-winning actor takes on childhood hunger with Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry Campaign. The organization is dedicated to providing food that will help kids lead healthy, active lives. Bridges adds, “Our kids aren’t hungry because we lack food… our children are hungry because we’ve lacked a big-picture strategy to connect them to the nutritious food they need to grow and thrive.” Want to get involved? Glam Slam: Seven Moves To A ‘Rockin’ Body

Courteney Cox and Robin Wright are fortysomethings with awesome bods, thanks to celeb trainer Grace Lazenby and her “Rockin Models” workout.
Grace, who has also worked with Carrie Underwood and “Twilight’s” Nikki Reed, shares her “Rockin Model” Sexy 7 workout to help you create the shapely body you want in seven signature moves.
1. PLIÉ: Place your heels together and toes slightly apart, and roll up onto the balls of your feet. Wrap your hips in and contract your gluteals. Bend your knees slowly, then lift and repeat. Avoid distributing the weight onto your knees and keep the core tight. You can use a body bar or chair for stability. Repeat 4 sets of 8.
2. THE WALK: A plié with a bit of “fancy” and “sexy,” essentially this is a grande plie with a little attitude!
Place your heels together and toes slightly apart, and roll up onto the balls of your feet. Wrap your hips in and contract your gluteals. Move your hips side to side, placing the weight in the while moving your gluteals down to the floor in a 2 count down, and then move them up in a 2 count up. Avoid distributing the weight onto your knees and keep the core tight. Use the support of a bar or broom if needed. Repeat 4 sets of 8.
3. CRAWL: A basic plié with dash of “booty intensity.”
Place your feet in 2nd position and lower and lift for 4 sets of 8. Hold your plie halfway down and begin moving the hips side to side. Proceed on by moving your body up and down the pole, while sticking your hips back and keeping your weight into your gluteals. Move up and down the pole, while keeping the weight in the gluteals quads and inner thighs. Repeat 4 sets of 8.
4. THE FLOAT: This is a movement that floats from side angle through warrior 2. This yoga flow movement works your obliques and opens and stretches the upper body while tightening the legs and hips. Repeat 8 times each side.
The “Rockin Models” motto for the float is “Keep your foundation strong and heart open!”
5. THE BALLERINA OBLIQUE LIFT: Want a waist as small as a ballerina…well this is the move for you!
Sit on the floor with weight on one hip. Extend the opposite leg out with a bent knee and the knee in alignment with your hip. The right hand is overhead with ballerina arms. Pull the right arm down while contracting the lats and obliques. The movement should be very small and concentrated. The movement is great for isolating those hard to get places around the waist. Repeat 4 sets of 8.
6. KICKS AND HAMSTRING LIFTERS: Lay on your back with your hips off the floor. Place the ball of the right foot on your left knee. As you lift your left gluteal up simultaneously kick the right leg into the air. Touch down with the right leg while the left is tapping the right knee. Repeat on the other side. Repeat 4 sets of 8 singles and then hold 8 counts on the right and 8 counts on the left. Repeat again.
This move will not only lift the booty but also lengthen for those long lean lines in the back of the hamstring!
7. SIDE-LYING PUMPS: Want a booty that is lifted for those high heels? This is a great move to lift and detail the gluteals without building them.
Lay on your side and place both legs bent in a 90 degree angle. Lift your top leg to tabletop position. Angle the knee down towards the bottom knee and then pump through the gluteals and lift towards the ceiling 2-3 inches above the bottom leg.
For added intensity, move the leg forward 2-3 inches in front of the bottom leg. Repeat 4 sets of 8 to feel the burn!

Matthew Fox Wants Jury Trial In Bus Driver Suit

Matthew Fox arrives at the 62nd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards held at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles on August 29, 2010
Matthew Fox wants a jury trial in a Cleveland civil lawsuit claiming the former star of TV’s “Lost” punched the driver of a chartered party bus.
Online court records show Fox made the demand in a counterclaim filed Thursday.
In her lawsuit, driver Heather Bormann of Cleveland alleges that Fox punched her in the breast, groin, arm and legs after she blocked him from boarding the bus on Aug. 28. Fox was in Cleveland for a movie shoot.
Bormann’s suit says she needed medical treatment for injuries that led to a loss of income. She’s seeking at least $75,000 in damages.
Cleveland prosecutors reviewed the case and declined to file charges against the actor.
Messages for comment were left early Tuesday for the attorneys for both Fox and Bormann.

Bieber, Gaga Dominate MTV Europe Awards

The MTV Europe Music Awards turned into a celebration of Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga Sunday night as the two picked up a number of top prizes, including best male and best female act.
Gaga, striking in several outfits throughout the evening, also won for best song and best video for “Born This Way.” Bieber picked up best pop act as well.
Their live performances captured the differences between the two ascendant mega-stars: the teenage Bieber, wholesome and almost impossibly cute; Gaga challenging and aggressively sexual in her approach.
Other awards went to Bruno Mars, Eminem and Katy Perry while the band Queen received the “Global Icon” award, in effect a lifetime achievement award to the now-graying rockers, who closed the show with a spirited set of their classics, including “We Will Rock You” and “We Are the Champions.”
It was a rousing end to the awards show, a highlight on the European music calendar that also draws A-list stars from the United States. It was held in Belfast, Northern Ireland, for the first time.
Queen guitarist Brian May said the show focused attention on how Belfast had found “true peace” after years of sectarian violence.
“It’s wonderful to be in Belfast,” he said.
The show also included a video tribute to the late Amy Winehouse, who died earlier this year in London.
But the evening was dominated by Bieber and Gaga, the two crowd favorites.
The casually dressed Bieber said modestly that he had voted for competitor Kanye West and thanked his fans and family for his first award.
“Never say never, right?” he said, waving his trophy in the air.
After he won his second award, for best pop act, he praised his fans for staying with him despite “a lot of crap on the Internet,” an apparent reference to unsupported allegations that he had fathered a child after a brief liaison.
Bieber took the stage a few minutes after Gaga accepted her award in characteristic style.
“Thank you so much, I love you so much. I’m so grateful. I’m really smiling right now, but I know you can’t tell,” said Gaga, wearing a bizarre silver dress with an oversize tilted hat that completely covered her face except for tiny holes that allowed her to see. She joked that she had had a lot of Botox treatment.
Gaga, who has enjoyed a year of spectacular commercial success, triumphed over a strong field that included a resurgent Jennifer Lopez, Adele, Katy Perry and Beyonce.
She later won awards for best video and best song for “Born This Way.” She thanked her “little monsters” for their support and said she regarded “Born This Way” as her most important work to date. She also won an award for having the best fan base.
Earlier, Perry — dressed in a mostly pink jacket and miniskirt — won the best live act award, and the American band Thirty Seconds to Mars won best alternative act and best world stage.
American rapper Eminem was named best hip hop act and Linkin Park took the prize for best rock band.
The show featured performances by headliners Bieber, Gaga, Bruno Mars — who won for best newcomer and for “best push” — Coldplay, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Snow Patrol and other top acts.
Chris Martin, the Coldplay frontman, joked that the band was just “warming everyone up for Justin” on his way into the awards ceremony, which was hosted by Bieber’s girlfriend, the actress and singer Selena Gomez.
She admitted she was nervous about her performance while being photographed on the red carpet just before the show.
The awards, which were set up in 1994, have previously featured performances by stars including U2, Paul McCartney, Take That, Beyonce and Jay-Z.

Leo Talks Taking On ‘J. Edgar’ & Bringing 3-D To ‘Great Gatsby’

Leonardo DiCaprio is hoping to help bring a fresh take to a classic story, when he stars in the latest big screen version of the F. Scott Fitzgerald novel “The Great Gatsby,” slated to hit theaters Christmas 2012.
And besides a slew of sexy modern faces – Leo will share the screen with the likes of Carey Mulligan, Tobey Maguire, Joel Edgerton and Isla Fisher in the film – the producers are also bringing another modern-day twist to the reboot: 3-D technology.
“We’re shooting ‘The Great Gatsby’ in Australia right now and what’s really cool is working with [director] Baz [Luhrmann] and this 3-D format that’s being used for drama,” Leo told Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush, while promoting his latest movie, “J. Edgar,” in Los Angeles over the weekend.
“Most of the time, you associate 3-D with the spectacle of it, but he really wants to use 3-D to create emotional impact with the characters and almost use it like what it would be like to immerse yourself in a theater production,” Leo explained. “So I’m having a good time with that. Plus, it’s the great American novel.
“I’m having a great time with the material for sure,” he added.
When it comes to his current project, “J. Edgar,” Leo said there was plenty that drew him to portraying such a historic, yet controversial, figure — J. Edgar Hoover.
“What interested you in Hoover?” Billy asked Leo.
“He was always a very mysterious figure in American history. His personal life was always shrouded in mystery — I never could quite put my finger on it,” the star said. “He was this bulldog figure, he was sort of the face of the FBI, he changed our country in a time of great lawlessness where bank robbers were going from state to state robbing banks, becoming local heroes. He sort of cleaned up all that mess… he was creating this new federal police force single-handedly.
“But then, there are all those salacious rumors that you heard about him too. So, it was very exciting to see somebody’s very specific take on who J. Edgar Hoover was through these different time periods from the beginning of his career and how he was this very ambitious young man that created this police force all the way to the end of his life where he, you know, became a political dinosaur and didn’t adapt to the changing of our country,” Leo concluded.
Despite the ranging opinions on Hoover’s legacy, Leo said he didn’t see any risk in taking on the role.
“If there is a risk, I think that that may be something that other people might attribute to this character. But to me, it was a no-brainer. It’s like, how often do you get to portray somebody with this much complexity and intrigue?” Leo suggested. “I mean, this guy had a crock pot of different eccentricities and that’s like an actor’s dream.
“So I just looked at it as that perspective — like how could I not play this character?” he said.
