Will J.R. Martinez’s Ankle Injury Hurt His Chances In The ‘Dancing’ Final?

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- J.R. Martinez fell from the top of the leaderboard on Monday night, following an ankle injury, but he told Access Hollywood he is ready to compete in next week’s final.

“The ankle is better,” the army veteran and former soap star told Access Hollywood Correspondent Tim Vincent on Tuesday evening. “I had an X-Ray taken this morning and it came back negative. That’s good news. It kind of swelled up just a little bit last night. I iced it, kept it elevated. Nothing major, like a tear or broken… I’m relieved [at] the fact that America voted us through and gave Karina [Smirnoff] a chance to be in the finals, and to show them we deserve to be there.”

J.R. said his injury could be healed by a couple weeks off his dancing feet, but he plans to mix rest and training as he makes his run for mirrorball glory.

“I have five days to strategically rest it and really pay attention to it, but still work on the routine,” J.R. told Tim. “I’m going to be doing that in rehearsal, going to be taking breaks here or there, 20-30 minutes, icing it from time to time. Just really trying to take care of it and nourish it, because I don’t want to re-injure it.”

The actor said he plans to hold nothing back when he and Karina hit the stage – including, a possible lift.

“We’ve got our freestyle. It’s a lift… in our freestyle,” he said. “I think America would like to see that lift, and I want to show it to them.”

The “DWTS” final kicks off on Monday night at 8/7 C on ABC.

‘Breaking Dawn’ Stars React To Fans’ Premiere Tent City

More than 1,000 “Twilight” fans are anxiously awaiting Monday’s premiere of “Breaking Dawn — Part 1,” already camping out and lining up outside LA Live in Downtown Los Angeles.

But what do the “Breaking Dawn” stars themselves think of the Twi-hard tent city?

Access Hollywood caught up with Kellan Lutz and Christian Serratos on the red carpet of the Nylon Guys November issue release party on Thursday night in West Hollywood to get the scoop.

“I really want to go out to tent city,” Kellan told Access Hollywood.

“My friends told me, ‘I think you make the record for two premieres in one week at the Nokia Theater,” he added, referring to the LA Live-held premiere of his other November film, “Immortals,” which sees him playing a young-looking Poseidon.

Kellan, who plays Emmett Cullen in “The Twilight Saga,” isn’t the only cast member jazzed by the #OccupyTwilight phenomenon.

“I heard about tent city like an hour ago. I had no idea that fans were out there already,” Christian, who plays Bella’s human friend Angela Weber, told Access. “I know they do it every movie, but for them to be out there already is very cool, very supportive.”

Christian can’t wait to see the premiere either because she admitted that “Breaking Dawn” is her favorite installment in Stephenie Meyers’ book series.

“I’m more excited for this movie than I have been for any of the others,” the actress, who was sporting a funky Forever 21 top and black and white Chanel sneakers, added. “And I’m in it the least!”

One of her favorite scenes to film was the exchanging of vows between Edward and Bella.

“It felt like a real wedding. It was emotional…especially because they made the wedding the very last scene we all shot together,” she said.

When asked the inevitable question, Team Edward or Team Jacob, the 21 year-old actress didn’t hesitate for a single second before replying.

“I used to play it cool and say I was neutral, but [expletive] it — I’m Team Edward!” Christian told Access.

“The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 1” premieres this coming Monday, November 14. “Part 2” follows in November 2012.

UPDATED: Brett Ratner Resigns As Producer Of 2012 Oscars Following Homophobic Slur

Brett Ratner has resigned as producer of the Oscars, Access Hollywood has confirmed.

“This morning, Brett Ratner submitted his resignation as a producer of the 84th annual Academy Awards to Academy President Tom Sherak,” the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences said in a statement on Tuesday evening. “Ratner then issued an open letter to the entertainment industry in which he explained his decision.”

The news comes just days after Ratner used a homophobic slur during a Q&A session at the Los Angeles ArcLight Cinema, following a screening of his latest film, “Tower Heist.”

When asked about his rehearsal process, he said, “Rehearsal is for fa*s.”

“It was a dumb way of expressing myself,” Ratner later said in a statement, by way of apology. “Everyone who knows me knows that I don’t have a prejudiced bone in my body.”

In addition to his homophobic remark, Ratner also recently slammed Olivia Munn, and suggested he had slept with the starlet, when he appeared on her former program, G4’s “Attack of the Show.” He later apologized for his G4 remarks during a visit to “The Howard Stern Show.”When Ratner resigned from the Oscars on Tuesday morning, he also penned an open letter to the Hollywood community.

In Ratner’s open letter, obtained by The Hollywood Reporter, the director admitted he has been criticized in the days since he uttered the gay slur.

“As difficult as the last few days have been for me, they cannot compare to the experience of any young man or woman who has been the target of offensive slurs or derogatory comments. And they pale in comparison to what any gay, lesbian, or transgender individual must deal with as they confront the many inequalities that continue to plague our world,” he wrote in his letter.

“So many artists and craftspeople in our business are members of the LGBT community, and it pains me deeply that I may have hurt them. I should have known this all along, but at least I know it now: words do matter,” his letter continued. “Having love in your heart doesn’t count for much if what comes out of your mouth is ugly and bigoted.”

Ratner added that he plans to put work in on the fight against bigotry, and noted he has already reached out to the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD).

“Please know that I will be taking real action over the coming weeks and months in an effort to do everything I can both professionally and personally to help stamp out the kind of thoughtless bigotry I’ve so foolishly perpetuated,” he wrote.

Academy President Sherak said Ratner’s decision to resign was the right one.

“He did the right thing for the Academy and for himself,” Sherak said in a statement. “Words have meaning, and they have consequences. Brett is a good person, but his comments were unacceptable. We all hope this will be an opportunity to raise awareness about the harm that is caused by reckless and insensitive remarks, regardless of the intent.”

Kenny Chesney Talks Past Romances & Wanting A Family

  Kenny Chesney may be known for being country music’s most eligible bachelor, but he’s open to love.

“Do I still believe in falling in love? Sure. Do I think it exists? Yep. Have I felt it? Yes, and who wouldn’t want to feel that again,” he told Robin Roberts on Tuesday’s “In The Spotlight with Robin Roberts” on ABC.

The country music superstar also said he hopes to one day have a family.

“Oh, of course, no doubt about it,” he said. “I really don’t envision, you know, everything in my life revolving around sound check and catering at 5 o’clock… I don’t want that.”

Kenny was married in 2005, briefly, to Oscar winner Renee Zellweger, but the union was annulled after just a few months. And when asked about his past relationships having a bearing on his future ones, Kenny said he’s learned from the experiences.

“I think everybody learns, I hope,” Kenny told Robin. “I recorded a song one time, called I ‘Done A Lot of Things Different.’ Of course I would have done things different, in my personal life.”

Matthew Fox Wants Jury Trial In Bus Driver Suit

Matthew Fox wants a jury trial in a Cleveland civil lawsuit claiming the former star of TV’s “Lost” punched the driver of a chartered party bus.

Online court records show Fox made the demand in a counterclaim filed Thursday.

In her lawsuit, driver Heather Bormann of Cleveland alleges that Fox punched her in the breast, groin, arm and legs after she blocked him from boarding the bus on Aug. 28. Fox was in Cleveland for a movie shoot.

Bormann’s suit says she needed medical treatment for injuries that led to a loss of income. She’s seeking at least $75,000 in damages.

Cleveland prosecutors reviewed the case and declined to file charges against the actor.

Messages for comment were left early Tuesday for the attorneys for both Fox and Bormann.

Famous Firsts: Al Pacino Reveals His First Brush With Fame

The moment Al Pacino first realized he was famous left him with nothing to say to an attractive woman who recognized him.

Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush caught up with the Hollywood screen legend over the weekend at the junket for his latest movie, the Adam Sandler comedy “Jack and Jill,” where he revealed the moment when he lost a bit of his anonymity.

“I do remember the first time… I’m on a street corner, and I’m a young guy, out and about. I’m walking and next to me is this red-headed girl who is attractive and was standing there by a light,” the 71-year-old actor said.

“I look over at her, as if to say, ‘Will this light ever change?’ I thought I was witty then. ‘What’s going to happen to us if this light doesn’t change?’” the actor recalled.

But it was when the woman referenced his iconic Michael Corleone role in 1972’s “The Godfather,” that caused the actor to panic.

“She just turned to me, and she said, ‘Hello, Michael.’ I said, ‘Well, first of all, I’m not Michael. I’m Al.’ Wait a minute – Michael Corleone, ‘The Godfather!’ It all left me, all the spirit I had, all the need to talk to her,” he explained. “Everything just said, ‘Whoa! What’s this? This is new. She knows who I am? Are you kidding? I’m out of here.’”

The moment left the star completely unable to turn on his charms with the good-looking redhead

“I couldn’t close! I couldn’t even walk. I was just standing by the light,” Al told Billy. “I sort of left myself there. Isn’t that something?”

“Jack and Jill” opens on November 11.
